from Terry Frei of the Denver Post,
He entered the zone of diminished returns.
There is no turning back.
Forsberg has become more trouble than he is worth. His unreliability is demoralizing.
It raised eyebrows when he was in and out of the lineup down the stretch of the regular season after signing with Colorado on Feb. 25.
This raises doubts.
At this time of year, in the most relentlessly testing of professional sports’ postseasons, any skepticism — even subconscious — about a teammate’s resolve is a major problem.

I don’t really buy the distraction argument. Before the series, everyone was saying things like, “Sure, the Wings won the season series 4-0, but that was without Forsberg, Foote, and Sakic in the lineup.” Well, last game Forsberg, Hannan, and Wolski were out of the lineup, and the Wings dominated again. Forsberg’s not a distraction—the Avs just aren’t a good team without him (and the others). If anything, the playoffs have been an improvement: in two games, the Avs scored twice as many goals as the did against the Wings all season!

The Av’s have already got what they wanted from Forsberg. He was brought back to sell-out the Pepsi Center, and that he did. It is sad to see a great player finish his career this way.
