from Eric Duhatschek of the Globe and Mail,
At the moment, the Marian Gaborik-to-Montreal rumour that made the rounds in cyberspace this week has its genesis in one thing, and one thing alone – the close relationship between the man who may eventually have to trade Gaborik if he can’t sign him to a contract extension, Minnesota Wild general manager Doug Risebrough, and his long-time Habs’ teammate, Gainey. If Risebrough needs to shop Gaborik – something that will happen later rather than sooner, largely because so few teams could fit his $7.5-million (all currency U.S.) annual salary under the cap in mid-October - he would ideally like to place him with an Eastern Conference team.
