The Kubina Misunderstanding

from David Shoalts of the Globe and Mail,

Pavel Kubina says the contretemps over a failed trade that would have sent him to the San Jose Sharks was all a misunderstanding.

Both he and his agent, former NHL player Petr Svoboda, said the Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman never agreed to waive his no-trade clause and then reneged on Monday night.

I am baffled why he wouldn’t want to be traded. He’s playing on a terrible team, hasn’t played that well, getting called out by the media on a regular basis, from what I know he doesn’t have a family to move. He gets a chance to go to San Jose, a terrific orginazation where he is still guaranteed all that money he is making and will compete for a cup for the remaining years on his contract. The only thing more annoying then these guys not waving their “no-trade” is the fact they they are still talking about making the playoffs and winning a cup. A little late to start trying don’t you think. No doubt the will end up in 9th again. Man it sucks to be a Leafs fan right now. Never been worse.
