The Latest Regarding The NHLPA

from Fan590,

HockeyCentral @ Noon’s Nick Kypreos has learned that The NHLPA has shut down its operations. Interim Executive Director Ian Penny and Ombudsman Buzz Hargrove has also had their responsibilities suspended. According to Kypreos, the NHLPA “is not a functioning organisation right now.” Further, he added that Penny has been “constructively dismissed.”

added 2:21pm, Same link as above but story has been updated,

Ian Penny has resigned his position as interim Executive Director for the NHLPA. This decision comes shortly after Sportsnet’s Nick Kypreos learned the organisation prevented Penny and Ombudsman Buzz Hargrove from contacting player representatives. According to Kypreos, the NHLPA “is not a functioning organisation right now.”

added 3:10pm,

The National Hockey League Players’ Association made the following statement today:

“Interim Executive Director Ian Penny informed the NHLPA staff and the NHLPA Executive Board earlier today that it is his position he has been constructively dismissed as Interim Executive Director of the NHLPA and can no longer work in the present circumstances. Effective today, Ian Penny is no longer employed by the NHLPA.

There have been inaccurate media reports circulating today that the NHLPA has suspended operations. The NHLPA staff continues to work very hard on behalf of the players in all areas of the Association’s business and will continue to do so going forward.

The NHLPA will make no further comment today on this internal matter.”

Seriously, They all deserve what they get.

99% of the owners are greedy scum.

85% of the players are morons who let their agents dictate their lives.

The NHL leadership is rotten to the core.

I feel bad for the fans of this once great game, and the portion of players who actually cares about the GAME and not just their next paycheck.

The NHL has officially become a joke in ALL areas. Every Teams giving away tickets to draw crowds, bankruptcy, failed associations, ghost teams, ridiculous agendas from the top down. Good Lord it is gross.

Call me an optimist but I think that just maybe the NHLPA has turned the corner. I think the players that removed Kelly have come to realize their actions were conducted in an irresponsible manner, and this (Penny, Hargrove) is the necessary aftermath.

Obviously they’ll still be in the news, as replacements will be required. Also, Penny’s declaration that he was “constructively” let go is a clear attempt to get some sort of payoff / claim that he presumably wouldn’t receive if he simply resigned. Just one more indication that he’s a douche and the NHLPA made the wrong move in bringing him aboard.

This is good news.

The players led be Chris Chelios are cleaning the scumbags out of the NHLPA:

Ian Penney, Buz Hargrove, (Eric Lindros and Ron Pink are not employed there to start with, although they were part of the insiders involved in the “Coup d’ etat).  There are more to go.

I predict that when the investigation is all concluded, they will bring back Paul Kelly, and he will be able to hire his own people.

Chis Chelios is saving the NHLPA once again.
The guy is the modern day equivalent of Ted Lindsay.

Note that Ian Penney wrote a letter to the players accusing Chelios of all kinds of nastiness...Penney’s last hurrah.
Mr. Penney, we have seen by your actions what you are.
Your words can no longer fool anybody.
