I hope they have an in-depth discussion of Mr. Bettman’s “flex officiating” system. Refs can call—or not call—whatever they want, whenever they want to, regardless of whether it actually happened or not! The only catch is there’s a strict limit of seven penalties per team per game. So, if for example, “Team Texas” were to commit 60 penalty-worthy infractions in a given game (that’s one per minute for the sake of a nice, round number to work with), they could receive an absolute maximum of seven actual penalties (although pushing the upper limit is somewhat frowned upon). Conversely, if—oh, I don’t know—“Team Michigan” commits three penalty-worthy infractions in the same game, they would be assessed somewhere in the range of four to six penalties. So, you see, it all pretty much evens out in the end!
It’s really an amazing innovation, light years ahead of all those other silly sports with their crazy, “carved-in-stone” rules. And, best of all, it works perfectly in tandem with Colin Campbell’s Wheel o’ Justice.
Then, if there’s any time left, maybe “Kenny” and “Gare” can broach the question of exactly how much revenue a Saturday afternoon game on NBC really generates.
(end of rant)

Well I’ll be damned! Lil’ Gary, at the end of the interview, asked Ken about last night officiating.
Holland said he watched the replay and no part of Homer was in “the cylinder”. Holland made mention of the fact that, after the game, he chased down the head official in charge of the Wings/Stars series to the proverbial WTF?
He also said game 4 is history, and expects the Wings to have the best game of the series in game 5. And yes, Homer will be right back in the office again.

I think we may have had a few Wings callers on with the commish…
Nathan from Michigan and Jeff from Oklahoma were just on.

I did get through—not the most articulate question i’ve ever posed.
But, the Comm’s answer was just pure b.s.!!!
Comm says the review is limited to only whether the puck crossed the goal line— B.S.
they review for high stick and pucks kicked in.

Oh and after you ask the question they cut you off, so I couldn’t offer any rebuttal—

That’s why you prepare a loaded question while you’re waiting to get on. Take a question, insert the fact that makes the reason why you’re asking the question obvious, then watch Little Gary squirm like a porn star at a Nun Convention.
For instance: “Three part question here, you piece of dog crap Commissioner; considering the NHL performs video review of goals scored via high sticks, kicks, etc. why wouldn’t the league review for obviously the most common of those occurances, goaltender interference situations?
Secondly, how can a goal be waived off for goaltender interference without a penalty being called for goaltender interference.
Finally, are you palnning on retiring or dying soon? I’ll listen to your answer off the air, thanks.”
That might need a little polishing…

That last line brought on gales of laughter.

Gee: Do you think Holland will broach the topic of goal-tender interference today?
Just saying.
