from Japers’ Rink,
Starting next season (for the sake of convenience), Alex Ovechkin will pay $405,000 more per year in income taxes under President-elect Obama’s proposed tax plan than he would have under the current tax code…

My fondest wish is that the most ardent Obama supporter in the land wins the lottery after January 1. Then we’ll see how thrilled that individual is about letting Mr. Obama decide how to spend the money he/she has won.
Hey, it’s always easy to “take from the rich” when you’re not rich. It’s not quite so easy to do so when you’ve either “won” your way into that group or, far more likely, earned your way there and then had someone else decide how that money should be spent. But hand it to Obama’s campaign manager for figuring out that “rape the rich” would be a great campaign strategy.
Now we all get to sit back and watch the “president-elect” figure out how increasing taxes on 5% of the electorate can cover tax cuts for 95% of the electorate and an increase in spending of $800 billion. I think the only way he can handle all of that is to appoint Gary Bettman as Secretary of the Treasury.
From a hockey fan’s perspective, it’s a win-win situation. Even if (er, when) that plan fails, we’ll at least be rid of the worst commissioner in all of sports.

I hope your wish comes true. I would love it if I win the lottery.
If you somehow imagine winning the lottery to be a curse, then your curses need some work.

Would you split it with me, please? I could use a few extra bucks.

I’m sure Alex will find it very difficult to survive on his meager earnings.
Personally, I’m excited for the new tax code.
