The Yzerman 2OT goal is still my favorite highlight goal of all-time.  I had already moved into Las Vegas and was watching this on a newly-bought 48-inch rear-projection TV.  I was standing and said outloud to no one in particular, “C’mon, Stevie.  Make something happen, baby.”

The Captain pots it right behind Jon Casey for the GWG and I damn near destroyed my new home with my over-the-top yellin’ and whoopin’ for joy.

I hate that they call them the top ten plays.  How about the top ten moments or something, because Hull’s 700th, his Cup winner and Lucky Lucc’s “franchise leader” goals were not amazing plays.  They were cool moments and achievements, but Yzerman’s play, with his feet up in the air in front of him, on the way down to the ice is the best play on that list.

Hell, #s 10, 9, 8, and 7 were all better, cooler plays than Hull Cup Winner.

Gah, why am I arguing?  This isn’t something worth arguing, it’s a friggin celebration of some amazing players….

It gives me a chill every time I see it.  Every single time.

Awww.. that clip brings back some sweet memories!

all of Yzerman’s goals was great, and I especially like Robitaille’s goal, that’s something you don’t see every day.

btw. I love these top 10 clips.. keep them coming Paul!

Some great moments from The Captain. I wish the clip of the 2OT goal was just a bit longer because Gary Thorne (sp?) actually calls Stevie going around Gretzky just before the goal. Just makes the moment that much more amazing.

And Dats feeding Hull for his 700th? If Dats makes it in to the Hall, everyone involved in that goal will be a HOFer. Federov, Dats, Hull. Awesome. Then Lidstrom coming over to congratulate him and Brett giving a half noogie to a rookie Dats. Just a beautiful moment.

Leetch’s end to end was sweet as well. Such a smooth skater.

I wish Stevie’s 500th on Roy was included too, just for kicks.

Gary Thorne’s call topped it off.

Amazing plays, but I agree that some have statistical or historical (#1) significance rather than being awesome plays.

What I find amazing is that 7 of the 10 plays involve the Wings playing.  Brett Hull had our number on a couple of career goals, and finally came over to our side for #700.

The HOF line… I like that.  Although the 2002 playoffs had so many HOF caliber players it is staggering.  I feel it is the greatest non-salary cap team assembled in the modern era.  Dive fans will argue that the 2003 Dive were a better team, but I would disagree.
