Theo Wants To Return To The NHL

Fron Darren Dreger of TSN,
Sources tell TSN Theoren Fleury is attempting a comeback and wants to play in the NHL again.
After playing senior hockey last season, Fleury decided in February he was fit enough to give the NHL another try, so he hired a personal trainer and has been working diligently since.
Those close to him say he didn’t leave the National Hockey League the way he wanted, which is fueling his desire to return.
The 41-year-old has been sober for almost four years and has been skating daily in Calgary in the hope that an NHL team is willing to invite him to training camp.
added 8:14pm, On March 13th 2009 on AM 640 Toronto, Theo Fluery was interviewed on the Bill Watters Show w/ Greg Brady about if he had any interest in making a comeback after good friend Claude Lemieux attempted one. Watters informs Theo that he should give it a try!! Theo responds with “It has crossed his mind, and You never know!”
Thanks to AM640 in Toronto for passing on the audio to KK.
added 9:28pm, from Eric Francis of the Calgary Sun (Saturday edition),
You can bet everyone around him is supporting his decision to take one last run at the big time.
However, like most athletes, somewhere along the way he’s lost sight of the reality of father time.

He was one of the most dominant D-man ever. That said, I’m not quite sure if he still has what it takes at 41 to be in the NHL anymore. I’d still give a chance in training camp though. A no risk gamble that may pay high dividends.

No matter what happens, 4 Years Clean is a great achievement.
Way to go Theo!!
Loungo, I hope you were joking ,‘cause Fleury was a foward (r.wing)

Seriously?....come on man, do you even follow hockey?
Thats like me saying Luongo is a Forward….
I dont mean to sound like a total dick, but why comment on something/someone you obviously have zero knowledge about?

I really enjoyed what you brought to this conversation, Jim. To be honest, I was growing concerned that douchebags everywhere would go completely unrepresented in this string of comments, but man…you really stepped up. I particularly liked the way you tried to distance yourself from your comments, thus ensuring that although you sound like a total dick, we’re not in danger of thinking that you perhaps are a total dick, Well done, Jim, well done.
No. Really. Give yourself a pat on the back.

Wow I said i made a mistake. Sheesh. calm down. I guess none of you ever made a mistake in your life.
But ya thanks for rubbing it in, It shows how much of a better life you have than me.

And im about 99 percent sure I have more hockey knowledge then you jim. All your posts are redundant and about as informative as Eklund is on a BAD DAY.

You don’t owe anyone an explanation. If people on this site have nothing better to do than to correct a rare and honest mistake or correct someone elses grammar or spelling then shows their shortcomings. I enjoy reading most of these posts and I’m sure that 99 percent of readers know either what you are saying or that you made an honest mistake. I make mistakes on a daily basis. For those who don’t make mistakes, Congratulations. I hope that I can one day be perfect too.

Agree totally with Mike. I’m actually surprised no huge rectum stepped up to use the grammar card on you:
But ya thanks for rubbing it in, It shows how much of a better life you have than me.
“ya” isn’t a word and there should be a comma after “but”, and never start a sentence with “but” either…
Didnt you take 20 minutes to perfect and proofread your post?!??!?
Wait, maybe you live in reality, are busy and don’t feel the need to go back if you think people can figure out what your point is. What a strange concept!
Seriously though, I would like to see Theo in Detroit. Who cares if he sucks, give him a mil and see what happens.

Theo, you been out of the league what 4 years now? Will you work for cheap? Call Doug Wilson and the San Jose Sharks. They will give you another chance, you’ll fit right in.

Re Theo: Congrats on the 4 years dry thing. That’s way cool and you deserve a pat on the back. But I won’t lament not seeing you back in the league.
Re mistakes: I’m so good at it that several years ago I had used up all the existing mistakes… so I had to start making up new ones.

Meh. I don’t think anyone should mind a correction. If I say something wrong, by all means, correct me. Just, uh, don’t be a dick (see Jim). At least, I’d imagine that’s how most of us feel. I know I was one of the first to offer a correction or, rather, to point out that a correction might need to be made but, hopefully, I did so in a non-offensive way. But, then again, this is the interwebs where everything can be taken for an insult if you choose.
Posted by shanetx on 08/09/09 at 09:58 AM ET
NO problem with what you said shane. You did not go running your mouth off acting like you were a TPSH know it all. I had issue in the way Jim was “correcting” me. Too bad his knowledge is equivalent to approx. .0001 percent of TPSH’s.

I loved this guy while he played. But I really hope he won’t come back and get embarrassed. He has been out of the game for a few years and the game has changed. The changes would make Fleury a better chance to succeed, but it seems like maybe this is clinging on when he should be letting go.
Good Luck Theo!!
