I like the typically mixed Manitoban support for an NHL-priced ticket, but it’s all about an ownership group that can support a team that will incur an operating loss for the equity and economic clout that owning a franchise with “cost certainty” can offer.

In a metropolitan area of just under 700,000, and a rink with a seating capacity of 15,000, the team just wouldn’t make all that much money, if any, in a league where the cap floor’s creeping toward $35 million, so the team would need a big investor, and there are big corporations in Winnipeg, but nobody’s stepping up right now.

If they’re interested?  Sure, within ten years, it could happen, just not now.
