At my NHL.com blog today, I get a few things off my chest.

I believe the Sharks have a separate game Twitter account set up, just wish other teams and people would use the same logic.

Thats exactly why I don’t follow anyone on twitter. Instead I just have a couple of the people I like bookmarked and check it a couple times a week and more often during busy times (trade deadline, July 1st, etc.)

Ya the Sharks do that. I don’t follow it though, I’m either watching the game or doing something else and don’t need to know that bad.
Maybe I’m in the minority, but I’m not a fan of the shootout, 4 on 4, much less 3 on 3. Give ‘em 10 minutes and if no one scores just call it a tie. Some games = 3 points and others = 2 points is ridiculous.

Paul, I assume (hope) you are not relating the “too much goalie” with the “Jimmy Howard” topic.
And, this week, who are your coaches of the year?

* A couple of years ago we had a few televised hockey broadcasts that were void of any play-by-play talk. Basically all we heard was the sounds of the game and truthfully, I enjoyed those broadcasts. But I have not seen or heard of any lately and I do hope to see one In the future.
Paul, I believe that this will be the next generation in sports broadcasting. Much like “HD” is all the rage now, I think customizable broadcasts will make the cable (or satellite) companies a ton of money. Imagine - just like an xbox game, you can go into options and turn off the play-by-play, turn up on-ice sounds, and turn up what is playing in the speakers at the arena. Much of the time, I find myself muting the whole damn thing anyway.
Why not make it feel as realistic as possible that you’re at the arena?

I totally agree with MarkK. If I had any money or the brains to do it, I would totally steal his idea and make a fortune.

* I don’t pay much attention to all of the NHL rankings done by numerous media outlets on a weekly basis…
That’s a shame Paul, you’re really missing out on some very informative and vital information.

Completely agree on the play by play guys on Twitter, there are some Pens people that do it, I basically do a mass delete on them…

Yes, I want my customizable broadcasts - they need to include activation/deactivation of promo graphics & scroll bars. And I’m looking at you Versus, I want a score box that I can config.

Good post. I know what you mean about the pbp tweets. I don’t need to know X team scored, I don’t know anyone who follows it like that.
