from John Ourand of SportsBusiness Journal,
MSG Network is the country’s first regional sports network to run virtual advertising during its live NHL games, a potentially important application to attract advertisers during the economic recession.
The New York-area RSN successfully tested the virtual advertising by superimposing Subway’s logo on the glass above the dasherboards during the final week of the NHL’s regular season. MSG Network was set to expand on the application during the Rangers’ first-round playoff series with the Washington Capitals.

It’s just virtual adds that show up on television only, I thought. Something else to annoy the television viewers. :(
Still, the visual environment is so cluttered with ads I’ve started only paying attention to them to know which places to tell that I hate their ads. I know what I want and which websites to go to in order to find it - stop trying to always sell me whatever stuff you are advertising.

Yes, it is TV only. Just sayin’, can’t wait for someone to not realize it and throw a fit.

Give it another couple of years and the NHL will have ad’s plastered all over jerseys to the point where NHL players will look like they are in a NASCAR fire suit.

Another distracting advertisement..unlike the ones behind home plate (which I despise), these particular abominations are going to be shown during action..somebody’s going to be checked into an advertisement..its like showing a virtual ad on the baseline between 1st and 2nd base..ads are supposed to be in the background, playing a subtle role..the glass ads look too primary to me

Ah, gotcha. I’m sure it won’t take long. The speed if ignorance is only barely exceeded by the speed of light.
