from Ben Wright of Blueland Blog,
Ilya Kovalchuk, Zach Bogosian, and Ron Hainsey all practiced and are all expected to play versus the Red Wings on Friday night.
Bogosian said his leg is fine but that the hit thrown by Cooke was knee on knee. He didn’t want to speculate about whether it was intentional or not. In my opinion it shouldn’t matter. Players should be penalized for accidental knee on knee hits just like they’re penalized for accidental high sticks that draw blood. Intent is irrelevant.

Good to see he’s feeling better. Gotta love the resiliency of younger players like that. No lasting injury is also good to see.
The player himself said it was a knee-on-knee, so that should end that little debate.

A compelling question. Is this the new “head hit” controversy? It may not seem as dangerous as a hit to the head but it’s every bit as career-ending.

And Oli Jokinen should have been penalized for skating recklessly when he cut Richard Zedniks throat.
You can’t start penalizing for accidents.
Stick penalties are different because your supposed to keep your stick down at all times, where as hitting someone is completely legal… unless Bettman has plans on that as well.

Cooke didn’t need to hit him. Bogosian was already shadowed by another Pens player.
