Ticket Issues In Nashville

via the Tennessean,
After 15 home games, the Predators’ paid attendance average stands at 12,655, according to figures compiled by the team and obtained from Metro Sports Authority.
The total does not include paid attendance figures from the Dec. 22 game against Los Angeles, which are not yet available.
The Predators’ two most recent home games prior to Los Angeles – against Detroit and Colorado—produced paid attendances of 14,492 and 9,670, respectively.
The Predators must average 14,000 in paid attendance this season to keep the current lease between the team and the city intact. That would keep the team in Nashville for at least the next three seasons.

While I’m not 100% certain of this, I believe one of the new owners was previously quoted as saying that attendance of approx. 15,000 was required to break even.
Also, the Predators must average at least 13,250 in paid attendance this season to qualify for the NHL’s revenue-sharing plan.

Hey! I got an idea! Let’s have the Wings play everyday in Nashville! And...and...and next year??!? Our whole schedule would consist of 10 games against the Preds at the Joe and 72 in Nashville.
There! That should solve ALL their attendance issues and Bettman would still be bestest friends foreverest with the Preds’ organization and Lou Lamoriello would gloat about how his idea for competitive hockey is borne from division rivalry was the greatest thing to have ever happened to the NHL.

Yeah, this is getting kinda ridiculous. How long does the league keep sagging franchises like Nashville and Florida afloat?

Here’s an idea… Nashville moves to Hamilton, Phoenix moves back to Winnipeg, Florida moves to Quebec. Or better yet, just dissolve those teams altogether. No one will miss them, and the level of competition in the NHL will rise due to there being fewer spots for the ‘less talented’ players. I mean, you have to be good to play in a thirty-team NHL, but you’d better be quite good to play in a 27 team league.

This is for the current lease. The new lease does not have the attendance clause. The paper always fails to tell you that.
