Too Much Complaining

From Paul Kukla at NHL.com,
You get the feeling these people will never be happy. They will always find a fault with the game and truthfully, I am a bit worried they will never experience the true passion of the game. Too much criticism is not good for the soul, it doesn’t allow you to see the great parts of our game and enjoy the pure athleticism of the NHL players.
Look how much the NHL has improved over the last three seasons. The game is being played the way it was meant to be played.

I dunno, Paul, I tend to think that complaining is also a part of the passion of the game.
I suppose on the day when hockey pays me to attend, I could be forcibly silenced. So long as it’s my money I’m spending, though, I think it’s my right to suggest improvements or voice displeasure when applicable.

I would argue the shootout is not part of the way hockey is supposed to be played. And that is a bad invention of the last 3 years.

I have no problem with the concept of constructive criticism of the game, but the word constructive is key. The game is pretty darn good as-is, and I think we’d all love to see a few tweaks here and there to get it as close to “perfect” as possible.

I agree with George, and I do like the shootout, just need to make it slightly less frequent and a little more special again.

Skaters can now skate, shooters can now shoot, all without being impeded.
Umm, yeah except for during the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but when MT pointed that out he got called a whiner. Oh well, who cares, it’s not like i’m going to make a point to any of the Red Wings fans here.
And before you treat me like I’m the one who killed Jesus, the Wings still would have won, they were the better team, but MT had a point that they weren’t being allowed to play their game.

Totally agree, Paul. Some people try to grab onto anything negative and run with it. This kind of hockey is what revitalized my love of the game.
I think Marleau will respond this year with a great year. He has a lot to prove to himself that last year was an abberration. With McClellan at the helm there, the offense should be a lot more dynamic.
I also think Weiss will get back in the game. With Jokinen gone, He has a lot more pressure. He should get better though the team might not.
