Top 10 NHL Arenas

Last week, Erik Erlendsson at the Bolts Report listed his favorite road stops in the NHL.  This week he rethinks his top-10 list by evaluating his favorite arenas:

10 Columbus (Nationwide Arena) - Right about now, you’re probably thinking I’m being geographically challenged again, after all, how can an arena in Columbus make a top 10 list? Well, like I said earlier, it’s my list and my opinion and I like Columbus. I’ve only been there a couple of times, including the 2007 draft, but I just like the way it feels. It’s a bit different on the inside, which gives it a touch of uniqueness. [...]

Nationwide Arena might have ended up higher on my list had it not been for that ear piercing cannon used last year each time the Jackets scored a goal.

I agree that Boston is a horrible arena. They built the cheapest building they could so it just screams blahhhhhhhh.....Although if they spent more ticket prices would be double what they already are and they avoided that personal seat license crap so its not all bad.

Actually there have been a couple movies filmed at the Igloo in Pittsburgh, including one just this year. But as far as thoughts of Sudden Death every time you look at the roof, just think of how much that movie comes to the mind every time you see it with the roof open?  I remember as a kid watching indoor hockey games when they would open the roof. They could do an Winter Classic in the mellon arena haha. Just pop that baby open for a few days, let the snow come pouring in, and its winter classic III.

Just to clarify, we don’t sing WHOA, OHHHHH after a goal at the Garden.  We are saying GOAAAAAAL, GOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL, GOAAAAAAAAAL after somebody scores.  And the Rangers only salute the fans after a win not after every game.
