from Dan Rosen of NHL.com,
Each conference has their share of supremely talented goalies, but some consistently separate themselves from the rest. What follows is NHL.com’s list of the top five goalies from the Western Conference entering this season.
Jean-Sebastien Giguere, Anaheim Ducks—When you talk about consistent goalies, Giguere belongs near the top of the list. He has won at least 30 games in each of the past three seasons while never playing in more than 60. His GAA and save percentage have also gone down every season since the lockout.
added 11:28am, also from Dan Rosen of NHL.com,
They are, at least for argument’s sake, the top five goalies in the Eastern Conference. Here’s who we’re talking about, followed by the why:
Martin Brodeur, New Jersey Devils—He is the unquestioned king of all goalies in the NHL now and he’ll likely have a record-breaking season.

I’m just glad Nabokov is on the list. But yeah, lol at the previous post…

If I had to make picks, I would not have chosen Chris Osgood or Marc-Andre Fleury. They seem to be htere mostly because their teams went to the Stanley Cup finals liast year.
I would instead pick Miikka Kiprusoff from the west and Rick DiPietro from the east.

MAF played amazing last playoffs. IF he plays like that all season, and obviously that is a big IF, he would be one of the top goalies in the league.
Same thing with Ozzie.
DiPietro was 33rd in GAA last season. Just thought i would point that out.
And why does anyone think Ryan Miller is good? He is so fricking bad its not even funny.
He looks like a 2 year old out there flopping all around trying to get the puck. His stats are decent, i’ll give you that, but this is one case where he plays far far worse than his stats would appear.

-Osgood
+ Bryzgalov.

Probably didn’t pick Kiprusoff because his numbers have been trending downward the last little bit. Combine that with his notoriously slow starts, and he drops a few notches - but I would have thought he would be there, too.
I’m actually surprised to see Osgood on there. Regardless of what fans think, he is generally dismissed as “any goaltender could play behind that defense and win” - besides, he doesn’t even play a full season, so how important can he be?

I only read the Giguere part of this article, and it’s not that well written.
This is a sloppy sentence. His save percentage has gone up every year, which I think is implied but quite the opposite is stated.
Well, three out of four isn’t bad. He’s actually lost in the first round once and the third round once. The two finals appearances is true, though.
I don’t have any huge issue with his picks, but his justification really could use a proofreader or something.
