Toskala Ready And Willing To Play

from Curtis Zupke of the OC Register,
It looked awkward to see Vesa Toskala in his Toronto Maple Leafs goalie mask juxtaposed against his Ducks practice jersey when he took the ice Sunday.
Toskala had been idled for six days waiting for a work visa to join the team, but he still had his old mask.
He was eager to shed it for a new one.
“Hopefully soon,” Toskala said. “So I can wash that blue and white out of my gear.”
“I don’t think I’m a backup goalie,” he said. “I obviously want to play a lot, and I know how good I can play. But like I said earlier, there are lots of things you can’t control in this league. I just do whatever I have to do here to help the team make the playoffs.
“I’m not going to complain or anything. If it’s my call, I would play every game because I love to play. When I play a lot, I play my best.”

You can scrub and scrub and that blue and white might come off but that stench of a goalie that stinks never will. You stank Toskala enjoy playing in a place that finally appriciates a man who is better at choosing european man purses than he is at stopping pucks.

Funny how the Leafs and their fans will blame Toskala for *everything*, yet they still suck when someone else is in net (doesn’t really matter who either).
You can’t ever wash the stink out from having to play for the Laffs either…

He must be a Ottawa fan. Still bitter eh. Guess u haven’t watch them lately eh or you would realize how well they play I’m front of giggy. And I wasn’t blaming him entirely but it’s hard to win when u have goaltending like his. It’s called having confidence in ur goalie idiot and the leafs had none in the duece toskola

I’m not saying Toskala didn’t play to 100% of his potential. What I am saying is that he has had a sh*t team in front of him in Toronto. Marty Brodeur couldn’t have saved the Leafs. Roberto Luongo couldn’t have saved the Leafs. The Leafs squandered plenty of times when Toskala DID play well during his time in Toronto, even.
And last I checked, even after 2 shutouts in a row, the Leafs still sat in 15th in the East. You don’t get there by just having a poor goalie…

I do agree but u sure doesn’t give u n e chance to get going being a leaf fan I can recall countless times Ive witness his sorry ass let in a goal that leave u in awe , u think he can’t get n e worse and yet he always surpassed my expectations of Horrid goaltending. He was a reason among few others that were in the position were In. He us just a bad goalie

wow sounds like vesa is bitter just a little, he played like crap for the majourity if his stay espicially this year at first I was putting alot of the blame on the team as a whole but toskola never made that key save , never stole a game well maybe once but most importantly he never gave his team confedince to play their game knowing your goalie can and usally could bail u out if a jam or keep u in a game really matters as we all know. Look at giggy , somebody who’s been their in that pressure situation and has stepped up as most of us would agree. Look at what he I instills in the leafs, look how calm they play in front of him it’s truly is remarkable the difference between a goalie u have confidence in and one who can’t stop a 40 foot bouncing shot.
