from Mark Madden of the Beaver County Times,
It’s too early to complain, but…
Crosby doesn’t have any quality wingers.
Actually, it’s not too early to complain about that, or to do something about it....
Penguins GM Ray Shero should trade Jordan Staal for some quality help at wing, and do it sooner, not later. Staal, 20, is a major talent with tons of potential. He plays hard two-way hockey and does everything he’s asked. Staal could play for my team any day.

Staal is overrated because of his name. him and his brother are two of the WORST faceoff men in the league and sorry but that doesnt fly as “2-way” at center if you suck at faceoffs. its part of the package. hes a good 2-way WINGER with power forward potential. Staal wouldnt land you Parise to the poster above. keep dreaming for Disney Crosby Magic Moments where your players are overvalued based on their name than their actual play on the ice.
until he picks up his foot speed, his face off ability and his consistency to score in this league, hes overrated and anyone who gives them a top 3 forward for him, without more compensation, should be fired.

but I’m guessing the Devils would probably want a draft pick or a another player.
Idiot. Read things before you embarrass yourself. And if he is a good 2 way WINGER as you most intentionally pointed out, why would his face off ability matter? And any idiot who thinks he isn’t fast will just be one of the many beat by him on the ice, giving him an easy breakaway on the PK, kind of like he did 7 times in his rookie season, you know, breaking a record and all.

I agree, Staal is my favorite player on the Penguins team, but they need to get Sid a winger, and Staal is our best trade bait.
I think they should trade Staal to the Devils for Zach Parise. I think Parise could really thrive on Sid’s wing, and if my memory is correct, I believe he even commented once that he would love to play with Sid. AND he is still under contract until the end of 2010/11 for a relatively low 3.125 mil cap hit.
As for the trade, an even Staal for Parise might work, but I’m guessing the Devils would probably want a draft pick or a another player. Maybe they can have Daryl Sydor, we don’t really want him. Or if they would rather have a good player, they can have Mark Eaton, or maybe they want a new goalie for the future, they can have Curry or Brown, they both look pretty good.
