from David Staples at the Cult of Hockey,
This report comes from Peter Adler, the veteran hockey journalist, who spoke to his Russian contact: “Jussi Markkanen’s son Oli-matias (4) fell out of a window in the goalie’s apartment in Moscow yesterday and died almost instantly ... the CSKA goalie brought his family to join him just a couple of weeks ago.

That is just terrible. Best wishes to his family.

This is awful. I have a son who just turned one a few days ago, and I think about Eric Clapton’s son from time to time. Morbid, sure, but natural when you’re in the unique position of parenthood, having a little miracle who brings so much joy to your life and is totally and completely dependent on you to protect him. With all the craziness in the world today, getting through the day can feel overwhelming sometimes. When you hear about something like this, it’s just… Words can’t describe the feeling…
My heart and my prayers go out to Jussi and his family. I can’t imagine what they must be going through right now.

That’s just a devastating piece of news. I feel so awful for that family, what they must be going through.
Like you, mudshark, it also reminded me of Eric Clapton. That horrible tragedy always stuck with me over the years as well.

Tears in heaven makes me tear up just about every single time I hear it, or even think about the lyrics as I’m doing right now. Just heart-breaking news. :(

And I just saw a video of my one-year old niece on youtube and seeing how happy she was singing the alphabet.
Tragic, tragic news. The hockey family world wide is the closest group of fans in any sport. We’re all thinking of Jussi and his family.
