Turco Wants To Be On A Winning Team

He declined interview requests for a couple of days after Stars GM Joe Nieuwendyk announced Tuesday that the veteran goalie would not return to the team next season. However, as he lined up realtors Friday to sell his house, Turco said he was ready to turn the page.
“It was hard and it is hard, but they are moving on and I have to move on,” Turco said. “I haven’t been happy for a little while, and I believe I’m a pretty happy person, so it’s time to find a way to be happy again.”
After his four-year contract with the Stars expires on June 30, Turco will be able to shop himself around the NHL as an unrestricted free agent. He got a late start in the pro game after four years in college and two more in the minors, so this is
Turco’s first look at free agency. He said his criteria is simple.“I want to win,” he said. “I want to find a team that is ready to win, an organization that is building to win now, and an organization that believes I can be a big part of that winning. That’s the most important thing to me.”
