from Allan Maki of the Globe and Mail,
There has long been speculation that a group of players, the majority of whom are Meehan clients, sidestepped Goodenow’s no-cap position in an attempt to end the lockout.
If that happened, it’s possible a decertification case could be built against Meehan. A player agent has to be certified by the NHLPA before he or she can represent NHL players.
Meehan could not be reached for comment, but has gone on record expressing his contempt for anyone who would question his character and business reputation.

If Meehan wants to “sue Chelios’s butt off,” fine. I’m glad that Chelios brought this issue back into the public eye at a time in which information that should substantiate his claims will come to light, and if he’s sued, he’s sued.
It’s been widely believed that the most powerful agents saw the lay of the land in November and December of 2004 and told their clients to do what they could to get a capped deal done with the league, and as Chelios tends not to take swipes at people without evidence, I’d imagine that this is just the start of the next battle—to “out” those who were more than willing to sell one another out as they levied for power and influence that took place behind closed doors during the lockout.
If it’s a war Chelios is invoking, he knows he’s dealing with the most powerful hockey agent out there.

Now we are getting to the bottom of this whole affair. Powerful agents and dollars.
Once again, congratulations to Chelios for speaking the truth.
Meehan sounds like a vulgar, self-important rich guy. I hope they nail him.
This is not going to put Trevor Linden in a good light!

“ironic that Meehan would be de-certified but David Frost would still be certified.”
Check your information. Frost was decertified some time ago.
If Meehan was acting in this fashion detrimental to the NHLPA, someone (players) would know this. Further investigation is necessary.
