Upside Down Cup Was Done On Purpose

from the Detroit Free Press,
Here’s today’s conspiracy theory, courtesy of Chris Chelios’ appearance with JJ & Lynne on WCSX-FM.
Remember when Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott set the Stanley Cup upside down on the stage during last week’s “NHL Face-Off Rocks” show at the Fox Theatre?
“Someone should have drove that guy, he did that on purpose,” Cheli said Wednesday.
J.J.: “You think he did it on purpose?”
“No, we know he did ... we talked to people at the show and the guy was being real rude to everybody,” Chelios said.

God - that whole concert was horrible. Why Def Leppard? What a joke. Their live show has not aged well. The upside down Stanley cup was icing on the cake.
It should have been The White Stripes. A detroit based band what a colour scheme that matches the Wings. Or, if they wanted to appeal to the older demo, Rush - a Canadian band that wouldnt treat the game and the cup with such little respect. At the very least, maybe Kid Rock, ugh. “I watch football, mate” - shut up, Def Leppard, Zeppelin rip off artists anyway.

David St. Hubbins ought to be ashamed of himself.

Maybe the NHL could get Roseanne Barr to sing the National Anthem
opening next year’s SCF finals.

I was supposed to see Def Leppard in concert in Grand Rapids in April with REO Speedwagon and Styxx, but it was postponed because Joe Elliott wasn’t feeling up to par. Of course they would reschedule it to a date in August when I couldn’t make it...and now, if what Chelios said is true...I’ve listened to my last Def Leppard song. I really only wanted to see REO anyway.
