Variables Will Help Determine Ticket Prices For Stars Games

Barry Kahn’s variable pricing system for tickets to sporting events uses algorithms and airline-based strategies that could make even an economist’s head spin. But the founder of the software company Qcue said the heart of the plan that will be adopted this season by the Stars is really quite simple.

“We just want to get as many people in the building as possible; that’s the basis of all of this,” said Kahn, whose Austin-based company has already created a buzz by bringing the system to the San Francisco Giants.

Here’s how it works: The price for a ticket will change based on variables that include opponent, day of the week, time of year and even how long before the event that the ticket is purchased.
