Yeah, Legwand tried to hip-check him towards the end and completely whiffed. As Unicorn said, standing his ground and just getting in the way would have probably done the job. Amazing goal nonetheless, and definately the goal of the playoffs so far.

Looks more like Lemieux against the North Stars in the ‘91 Cup Finals than anything else.

That was one pretty goal by Ryan. Amazing in fact.
But Datsyuk has scored goals like this several times. Doesn’t take anything away from Ryan though. Sweet goal.

As I watched it live, I thought it was utterly astonishing. Then I saw the replay and I thought two things were utterly astonishing - (1.) Bobby Ryan’s balance and stickhandling, and (2.) Legwand’s complete inability to play defence. Why didn’t he just push Ryan off the puck or into towards the boards? That was as if he’s never seen a guy come at him with the puck before. What is Legwand doing?
