Video- Mike Smith Robs Pavel Datsyuk In The Shootout

I will admit, I said goal and looked again and realized Smith caught the puck with his glove hand.

You’re not a goalie wink Saw the glove coming up, saw Datsyuk closing too quickly for Datsyuk’s liking, and he almost forced the play. I was impressed.

When Dangles did that move on Vokoun, he had Vokoun waaay on the other side of the crease.

Cannot believe how this guy got away from both the Bolts and the sTards.

Great save.

Classic Pavel and Smith would have none of it. Helluva save.

Amazing save, but what was with the slapdick color commentator saying ‘suck on that’? I mean, Bert made him eat his words later, but you gotta think he’s gonna have a reprimand or two coming his way.

Its Nash, he hates the Wings.  Makes FSA coverage the last two years in the first round impossible to watch.

There’s a reason Pav usually only breaks that move out against right-handed catching net-minders.  It’s pretty much impossible to stop stick side, but a good glove if the goalie is still near the net always has a chance.

Gotta say I’m shocked he pulled that move out, when he had Smith set up for the backhand-forehand move based on his backhand goal against him last week.

Pav screwed up and either got in too close, or didn’t lift the puck enough.  Still a great save by Smith no doubt, but Pavel had to be kicking himself because if he’d just executed it correctly it was a goal and Smith would have had no hope at all.

Think about this:  a couple years ago the Coyotes broadcast team was probably tops in the league:  Dave Strader & Darren Pang.  Now they have two losers that are complete jokes since Pang moved to STL, and Strader to basically full-time NBC.

Not that anyone in PHX probably knows, what with all 4 people that actually watch the Coyotes broadcasts…

On the bright side I guess, they’ll both be out of work next year when the Coyotes finally move, so nobody will have to listen to them.
