Multiple reports state he is being treated for a cut above his eye and it could be a pretty serious one that may require more than stitches. Reports also state this work is being done at the arena.

I think it would have helped Hall.
Reports now say he didn’t go to the hospital, that there was a plastic surgeon at the arena for instances like this. The Devils all wear helmets at practise and the Oilers suffer too many freaky accidents, the Oilers should follow the Devils’ lead.

It’s like flying right? There are over 2400 regular season games played (if my LB math is correct) and there are very few incidents like this. Players want to hear a helmet, cool. If they don’t fine, it should be their choice.

The same logic can be applied to seatbelts in cars and airplanes too though.

If it’s a preventable injury, why wouldn’t teams compel (within the CBA) the players to take such a small step to stay healthy and available to the team? It’s in their workplace. Injuries cost teams $$$$—thru lost revenue, increased compensation (for replacements), and higher insurance premiums.
If it’s outside the workplace, and a player does something stupid, then the team can void the contract or suspend the player. Inside the workplace, it is the team’s loss, should be their rules.

Heh. Even the ECHL warmups and pre-game skates have players wearing helmets all the time.

Why should I have to wear a seatbelt? No, it’s a different argument. The player’s are insured.
Your math is incorrect. There are 1230 games…..that’s 82 x 30 / 2 (2 teams in every game).

More and more players are taking the pre-game skate without a helmet, in this instance you have to wonder if it would have helped Hall if he had his on, especially with a visor.
