ESPN during their Sports Center show this morning did a feature on Vladimir Konstantinov. The video below is not as in-depth as the one that appeared on the show this morning but still gives us a look at Vladdy today.
update 1:05pm, added the full video of the feature below…

Thanks for the link Paul. Promotes a great deal of melancholy for what “could have been” and for all that #16 has accomplished.

Makes me so teary. But I’m so amazed at his progress. It proves what a strong man he is.

He was a friggin warrior. It’s no wonder that he is as strong as he is this day. The whole segment is one the ESPN site if anyone is interested.

My favorite part of the video is seeing Fedorov kneeling down to talk to Konstantinov. I hope someone does a video on Vladdy every year.

As someone who isn’t a Wings fan, it’s a tragic shame I never got the opportunity to hate Vlad this past decade-plus. Great video.

Pretty amazing what the human spirit can do, both physically and mentally. The fact that Vladdy can achieve what he’s done physically and can get back to that level of mental comprehension and communication, well, it kind of puts everything in context, doesn’t it?

The man was just a beast in his day. I remember hearing/reading about a Mark Crawford press conference in the playoffs whereby he bitched and moaned for 15+ minutes about the tactics of Vladdy. A mind boggling +60 in 95-96. It took over ten years, including some very bad deadline trades and some draft busts, for the wings to get somebody with a similar game in Kronwall to replace his vacancy. I firmly believe that if he doesn’t get hurt in that accident, i think Nick is standing with 3 or 4 norris trophys as Vladdy gets at least two of them.
