That was my thought as well - they continue accumulatign forwards until they will be able to roll five or six lines.
Maybe they plan on trading extra forwards for defense in the summer?
I don’t know who they would trade with, because most teams are treating defensemen like baseball teams treat pitchers - you can never have too many.

What Dman do you want them to bring? Orpik, Campbell and Redden are all drastically overvalued. They’re already stuck with big contracts in Boyle and Kuba. Boyle, Kuba, Picard and Ranger is not a bad top 4 - though they’d probably like to bring in one more guy to bump Ranger or Kuba down to the third pairing.

They got Mike Smith from Dallas, which I didn’t think was a bad pickup for goalie. It was miles ahead of where they were before.
The weirdest thing are the rumors of trading Boyle. Why get rid of your best D?

Especially with a no-trade. Yet people persist in claiming that he is on the market. Odd.

Nine million over three years for a guy that had a good season on a crap team? Jesus ... those Saw movies must have made a hell of a lot of money if he can keep bankrolling the Lightning like this.
