Lots of players do this on the way to the game - a coke or coffee and a real small asprin. It helps.

The coke speeds up your reaction time (ephedrin is illegal up here) and the asprin thins the blood, helping recovery on the bench. It doesn’t beat being in great shape obviously but “it helps”
