Wanting To Play In Washington

from Ted Leonsis of Ted’s Take,
Although we will all miss Victor Kozlov and Sergei Fedorov in our line-up, the two new free agents that we signed - Mike Knuble and Brendan Morrison - actually had better individual statistics last season in comparison so you could rationalize that we have indeed upgraded in each position. Time will tell.
What is most important to me is that we stayed on plan. We added free agents to our line-up on short term deals and at reasonable financial terms and these are really talented veteran players who WANTED to come and play in Washington, some taking less money than they could garner elsewhere because of the quality of our team; our city and fan base; and because everyone wants to play on a Cup contending team. Everyone loves the Kettler Capitals Iceplex and wants to enjoy its comforts.

calling them the crapitals is way cool. just thank your lucky stars ovechkin didn’t score on that breakaway in game 7, else things would’ve been very different.
anyhow, the point is that no one wanted to come to washington before. we got fedorov at the deadline, though he may have resigned. it’s very nice and really a first for this franchise. these deals are very important for a franchise building from the ground up. so yeah, we needed this.

If my aunt had a d**k she would be my uncle. That’s the same logic.
Point is, the Crapitals will not be the same team they were last year. These signings are old men way past their prime. Ted would be better off promoting guys from Hershey than wasting his cap space on these retreads.
Ovechkin still needs to understand it’s a team game played in both ends of the rink. Funny, the best player in the world, or so he is called, can’t get anybody to come play with him. Wonder why? Also have to wonder why two fellow Russians would go back home than stay in DC and play with Alex? Maybe because they know better than anyone that he’s selfish and not a good teammate or leader.

Kukla’s Korner is always a free service for readers, but it costs some money to maintain. If you’re ever in a position to donate a few dollars to help out, we’d be very appreciative.

The Crapitals are pretty strong at forward and goaltending, but their blueline is below average. Once you get past Green, who was an absolute choke in the playoffs, there isn’t much there. Ted means well, and is actually doing a decent job of turning DC into a NHL town. He needs to tell Ovechkin that in order to win, he needs to play defense and quit cherry-picking, as well as taking himself out of position to make runs at people over personal grudges.
