The Stars win their first of the season, but Tim MacMahon points to the bigger story for Dallas:
But the story of the night is obviously rookie Fabian Brunnstrom, who became the third guy in NHL history to get a hat trick in his debut.
Why didn’t the Swedish dude play in the first two games? That’s one of the questions we’ll ask when he head downstairs for postgame duties.
More at the Dallas Stars blog later, presumably.

Most posts here don’t get a lot of comments- you can see a ton in the A2Y blog, but most of KK’s posts… nada.
I think we’re all happy for Fabio. He looked great. Situational awareness is key in this league and while he didn’t create many of his chances, being in the right place at the right time is a skill as well. Sorry he didn’t get credit for the forth goal!
As a red wings fan let me say- I hope he does well, and gets to play on a steady line with Ericsson-Richards down the stretch. I hope he develops a mean streak to match the 96 on the back of his jersey. I also hope he’s in the calder running, and that I get to see his introduction to Niklas Kronvall’s shoulder on the 12th of december.
