What A Comeback

Normally I don’t do game recaps, but last night the Kings were down 4-0 going into the 3rd period and came back to win 6-5 in OT…
from the AP via NHL.com,
Marty Turco didn’t seem too rattled after Dustin Brown spoiled his shutout bid with 7:14 left in the third period. After all, the Dallas Stars still had a three-goal lead, so what could possibly spoil it?
How about five goals on six shots?...
“The whole third period was brutal,” Turco said. “Other than embarrassing, it’s a total lack of respect for each other. You can’t just sit back and wait for it to go your way. You’ve got to make things happen. And we haven’t been making enough happen. We were just lucky to get a point out of all that.”

Amazing sequence, similar to the Kings comeback vs the Wings in the 01 playoffs when we scored 3 in the final couple minutes to force OT and then won game 4 in the extra session.
We had a 4 goal 3rd period comeback win vs Turco in Feb 06 that was also very similar but the comeback started at the beginning of the 3rd, was more drawn out and we only had to erase 3 goals.
Was at the above two games, was fortunate enough to be watching last night still just because we weren’t playing bad though the score was 0-4.
With 7 minutes left Marty definitely looked like he thought the game was over. Nobody expected Scott Thornton to score, when he did, that’s like letting the last picked kid hit the back the of the net. Everyone then knew they had a chance.
Too bad games in November are generally meaningless, this gut check win from the Kings gives confidence to a team that is looking for it wherever they can find it. Kopitar, Johnson, Frolov onward. Go Kings!

I don’t know exactly who Marty was referring to as having a lack of respect but if previous games are any indication, he is the main one that has been letting down. It’s as if he works for half a game and then just rests. I know the rest of the team fell off too in the third but if Marty is the All Star goalie he thinks he is then about half of those shots shouldn’t have gotten through. Besides needing a new GM and Coach I think we might also need a new goalie coach.
