from Five Hole Fanatics,
Here’s my list of 8 curiosities that should have been taken care of weeks ago.
1.) Flames cap issues.
Sutter waived Nilson, Warrener and Eriksson in the first week of July, ostensibly for the purposes of allowing other clubs to take them for free or, failing that, buying one or more of the bad contracts out. Neither happened and Sutter has instead gone about stocking the roster beyond it’s fill point, both in terms of number of players and total cap hit.
thanks to a KK member for the pointer…

Tampa’s plan equals this: Put all forwards on team through extremely intensive acting training. They, every 2 minutes, take a dive on the ice. PP comes up. 5 forward PP. All game.
Makes sense to me!!!
Also, I agree that the one deal that makes sense even if the sport was played in dung infested swamps is that of Bulin to LA. Make Bulin a freakin PR manager once there. A water boy for the Asst. Coach. A freakin media-box chair protector. Who cares. 1 year, 6 million. DO IT! Fix the f’ing problem!

Even more puzzling to me is that LA hasn’t signed their young players yet. They don’t need to clear space under the salary cap, so what it taking them so long? Have the negotiations been unusually acrimonious or something?

Well, to be fair, they don’t need cap space for this coming season, but next summer there are raises coming (Kopitar, Johnson, Labarbera or replacement), and I think Lombardi’s negotiating with an eye towards the future.
Besides, haste doesn’t really get you very much in August.

Why don’t the Kings give an offer to Andrej Meszaros? They have the cap room, they HAVE to fill some cap space to get over the floor, and who couldn’t use a good young defenseman?

Okay, that makes sense. I wasn’t aware that Kopitar was coming up for an extension yet.

I still think the Lightning are going to be using 4 forwards and 1 dman.
But if not, i don’t know what the hell they are thinking, no one does.
