from Spector at his Fox Sports blog,
Once upon a time, the Chicago Blackhawks were considered among the elite teams in the NHL and a perennial favorite to contend for the Stanley Cup. But over the past decade they’ve only made the playoffs once.
The Blackhawks have been on a rebuilding path for some time but have little to show for their efforts, frustrating their long-suffering fans.

I am old enough to remember some great Chicago teams, I do hope one day soon this team puts it all together and makes a serious playoff run. The fans deserve it and then some.

Hell, I’m old enough to remember some great Chicago teams, and I’m only 20. They made the conference finals in ‘90 and the Cup finals in ‘92, if memory serves, then kind of fell off the face of the planet within five years and haven’t been heard from since.
I mean, JR when he was good, Tony Amonte when he was good, Hasek and Belfour as young goalies, Chelios when he was still under 40, Steve Larmer, Michel Goulet, the Grim Reaper…what the hell happened?

I consider myself a pretty pacifistic, world peace kind of guy. But I really wouldn’t mind something awful happening to Bill Wirtz. Thanks for killing my childhood team, you ass.

My Mom just had her 61st birthday, and remembers clearly when Chicago won the Cup when she was in high school. I find it remarkable that franchise has any fans left. (The Chicago Wolves, on the other hand, are doing great and drawing very well. A couple years ago they advertised around Chicagoland with billboards that proudly stated, “We play hockey the old-fashioned way…We win.” They denied it was a reference to the Blackhawks.)

the final insult for hawk fans has to be chelios outlasting everything they got from detroit, and wanting to play to 50 as a wing, and now anders erikkson reviving his career in columbus.they need to develop a core and stick with it,constant dumping talent as wirtz has done and then overpaying players who aren’t top talent needs to change as well.if hawks trade any of their young d,they will be poised to remain bottomfeeders for awhile.of course besides chelios, seeing belfour and hasek do well has to hurt hawks fans as well.
