What Will The Blackhawks Do Next?

from Spector’s Hockey,

For now, I think Bowman will be praying his team stays healthy. As for the off-season moves, forget about Huet or Campbell going anywhere, especially the latter with his huge salary (over $7 million per season) and “no-movement” clause. Byfuglien, Sharp or Barker are the likely trade candidates and they’ll certainly attract considerable attention.

Byfuglien, Sharp or Barker

Or?!?

They’re going to have to dump considerable salary just to dress a 20-man roster every night.  I wouldn’t be surprised of those three and maybe more are gone this summer.

If they get rid of these three guys and accept $0 against the salary cap in return and the salary cap stays where it is, they’ll be about $5M under the cap with 13 players on the roster…

I don’t know what their AHL team looks like, prospect-wise, but I’m betting we’ll be seeing a fair number of freshmen on the team next year.

And since they’ve been relatively decent for a few years, draft picks are a thing of the past. This team defines “ONE AND DONE,” assuming they don’t lose it like they did against Detroit last year and crack under pressure. I don’t think anyone doubts that Chicago has a good hockey team this year. I’m not convinced MENTALLY that they’re ready to be champions. Even in the regular season, they can act like meatheads when they get behind.

I guess we wont have to worry about them cracking under pressure against the wings in the playoffs this year though will we?

I guess that depends on when the wings pick up Sharp as the hawks look to shed salary.

Now that’s wishful thinking. Sharp should have been named the Conn Smythe winner for neutralizing Lidstrom and helping the pens win more than anyone.

The Hawks have a pretty decent group of kids in Rockford, so they’re fine in that respect.
Besides, with the ‘Bowman Group’ running things, is there really any cause for concern?

I’m guessing they’ll hire Ken Holland as the person in charge of pizza delivery, or that might just be the excessive red wine talking.

13, you need to worry about the Wings making it past these kids this year.
When the Hawks were done with ‘em, they were too beat up to handle the Pens.
Keep that in mind…

Believe me, I do have that in mind. The hawks are the most competitive team they’ve been in my lifetime (I’m in my mid-30s) and they deserve the credit for Pittsburgh’s cup. Any team from the West who gets to the conference finals has done a lot more than the teams in the East. This is a tougher division and has a lot more travel. The only way I could ever root for the hawks is after the western conference finals are over. This year, I can see the hawks going the distance, provided they can keep their heads together.

You got that right.
They’ll mature in good time.
At least our 2 clubs don’t have whiners and cry babies, like some certain Kid we know…
