What’s Wrong With Colorado?

The Avalanche have lost five in a row and sit 14th in the Western Conference.

from Adrian Dater of All Things Avs,

The Avs’ lack of fire and intensity defensively has spread through the entire team. They are entirely too easy to play against, 1 though 18, almost every single night now. Somehow, this team got soft again. They’re letting teams just waltz into their zone, never laying a big hit on anyone along the way, not ganging around the puck, not making every single inch of ice hard to gain like they should – and like they did for good stretches of last season.

The forwards are just plain lazy right now in front two-thirds of the ice defensively. Where is the speed, where is the fiery agitation from TJ Galiardi these days? Why is Ryan O’Reilly so passive on the penalty kill now?

You could apply that description, word for word, to the Wings play in the past month. Slow. Lazy. Disinterested.

Maybe Babs should just post Dater’s article on the locker room bulletin board with a note saying, “So how much longer do you guys want to be the Avs of the Central Division?” That should wake some people up. smile

The Avs are waiting for Forsberg to come save them, clearly.
