When It Comes To Phoenix, Forget The Relocation & Dispersal Talk

from Kevin Allen of USA TODAY,
With the team possibly looking at losses of nearly $30 million this season, the situation is dire. But there are still many cards to be played before this team would be relocated:
These factors are all important in determining the fate of this franchise:
• The league is not considering, and has no plans, for folding the franchise or contracting the league. There’s no secret plan for a dispersal draft of Phoenix players.
• Commissioner Gary Bettman’s history has always been that moving franchises is only the last resort. That showed most recently during the sale of the Nashville Predators and during the Pittsburgh Penguins’ negotiations for a new arena.

Im tired of hearing about this. Of course there is low attendance, when you havent made the playoffs in six years, trade away great players, make stupid draft choices, the fans will react. When the owner is also the owner if a trucking company (Swift), and the way gas prices have been over the last two years, of course you are going to need some cash.
Now, with the current management, things are turning around. They have a plan/vision, but it’s not going to happen overnight. Phoenix (Glendale), has drafted very well in recent years, and has a great young group of players. Players that take time to mature and develop into a cohesive unit. They finally got a decent, hungry goalie last year (Thanks Brian Burke! Don’t Let him go Maloney). They got a top center for Doan (Jokinnen) this last summer. They have the Great One coaching them, and are really starting to look good.
They are in 7th place right now in the conference,if they were to reach the playoffs, and if the winning culture continues in the forthcoming seasons, the fans will come back.
Hockey in the desert you say? We have the The Sun Dogs (defending CHL champs) and the Road Runners too.
I go to as many games as I can afford to. Hopefully going to make it out for the Detroit game on Tuesday (any of the A2Y 19 in town?)
Ill get off my soap box now. Actually I think I was standing on a case of beer.
