Why Biron May Have To Look Outside The NHL For A Job

from Brian Costello of The Hockey News,

Eleven days into the free agent season and virtually every team has filled their starter and backup jobs for 2009-10.

That’s nine looking-for-work stoppers and a shrunken market.

I was hoping Tampa would pick him up to work with Smith. Now L.A. is his best bet if he’s going to stay here. I’m surprised neither him or Fernandez were picked up sooner.

He’s not coming to LA, barring an injury or two. Quick is the starter, Ersberg is an acceptable backup, and Bernier is waiting in the wings. If I know AEG, there’s no money for Marty.

I figure he’s just waiting for Lehtonen’s groin/knee/hip to explode less than 10 games into the season and then he can be the starter in Atlanta.
