Why The Flyers Will Win The Cup

from Sam McCaig of The Hockey News,
So here it is, the Three-Star case for the Flyers as Stanley Cup champions this coming June:
1. The Pronger Effect
Not only is Chris Pronger still one of the most dominant, devastating defensemen in the game today, Stanley Cup finals have a way of following him around; especially in his first season with a new team. At least, that’s been the case in the post-lockout NHL and it’s a what-have-you-done-for-me-lately league, so that’s all the matters. After nine seasons in St. Louis, Pronger showed up in Edmonton in 2005-06 and led the Oilers to the Cup final against Carolina. Edmonton lost in six games, but the Oilers wouldn’t have come close to advancing that far without the ultra-talented, ultra-snarly defenseman.
The next season, after an auspicious exit from Edmonton (let’s just say, don’t expect Pronger to return to the Oilers a la Mike Comrie anytime soon), he showed up in Anaheim on a blueline that also featured Scott Niedermayer and the pair of future Hall of Famers led the fighty Ducks to a Stanley Cup championship.
Now, Pronger is with his third new team since the lockout. And neither the ’06 Oilers nor the ’07 Ducks were as good as the Flyers – at least on paper – appear to be.

The Flyers are a playoff team. But one that is not good enough to win a round. Moving on…

emery has something to prove to people around the league bashed the guy. plus i think this team wasnt happy the way things ended last year and they want to send a message around the league, espcially to the pens. pens are walking with targets on their backs with the crap they got away with in the playoffs.
they will be the most entertaining team to watch this upcoming season. you’ll ever know when a suspension will occur.

FlyersFan, the Penguins did not get away with anything in the playoffs. Flyers fans still can’t realize it’s not 1976 anymore. You can’t pummel guys and expect to get away with it. The Flyers are undisciplined, and adding Pronger does not change that. In fact, it compounds the problem. Trading for him was a stupid move.

“emery has a lot to prove”.
Nope.
Egos don’t care about the team only their paychecks. Flyers goaltending isn’t enough to win a round let alone the stanley cup.
Emery has his act together? Um…I recall seeing him try to fight a trainer for trying to get him to wear a team hat after getting pulled. He’s still a retard. Who did he lose his job to? Was it Alex Auld or Martin Gerber? Emery isn’t even better than Biron, but they seem to peg their perrennial meltdown in the playoffs on him. They did the same thing to Esche, and they’re going to do it to emery.
Tell you what…not only will the flyers make it into the playoffs they’ll lose in the first round to the Florida Panthers and get woefully embarrassed.

What is it with Philly and there goaltending. It’s been well over a decade now. Until they straighten that out (long term, not these band aids), it’s probably more of the same.

Only on XBox and Playstation. They’re still a heartless bunch.

There will definitely be a Heatley effect. IF him and Joe can get it going, theyre going to be really tough to stop.

And neither the ’06 Oilers nor the ’07 Ducks were as good as the Flyers – at least on paper – appear to be. WRONG.
Both Oilers & Ducks had better defensemen and goaltending. Emery was average in the KHL. The Flyers are more hype than anything.
