Wild ‘Goon’ It Up

from Mark Kiszla of the Denver Post,
Let the mugging begin.
It’s the only way the Minnesota Wild can win.
To advance in the NHL playoffs, the Avalanche must embrace the darkness. When playing this goon-it- up Wild bunch, hockey is a no-holds- barred battle of attrition, not skill.
The only good thing that can be said about Minnesota’s 3-2 overtime victory against Colorado was the game lasted so deep into the night that it ended past the bedtime of most kids who could be frightened by the way the Wild mauls all the beauty from the sport.

I watched the first 2 periods… it was good hockey. Fast, rough, lots of skill and brawn on display… like RD71 said, it is the PLAYOFFS - no one is going to let you win a series, (well maybe Ottawa but other than that) you have to earn it!!

A hearty thanks to Paul for bringing this article to my attention. This guy and Dater must be in some sort of competition for producing the most drivel.
P.S. “33why” as the security code, I love it.

I think the thin air at high altitude makes Denver writers stupid.
Somehow, when I think of evil genius, Lemaire doesn’t exactly come to mind. What the heck was he watching?

Tough hockey… ugh. [where is my roll eyes emoticon when I need it]

Maybe this guy should turn on the Boston/Montreal series! Hard hitting both ways, scrums after every whistle. Every play matters. As was already said, it’s playoff hockey not a beer league game!

One more thing...the thing that bothers me most - and I’m not from nor have I ever been to Minnesota - is his shots at the state of Minnesota and the Wild jerseys! I actually don’t mind the Avs...have been a longtime fan of Sakic and Forsberg and others over the years, but give me a break...trying to demoralize a state over your hometown team losing. And as for the Wild Jerseys, the home red is one of, if not, the nicest in the league! Just my 2 cents!!

Did this guy actually watch the game? Perhaps the players should have said, “Excuse me, may I put my puck in your net?” Maybe he should write about a new sport, like ice dancing. This is hockey- I would ask for a refund if it wasn’t aggressive in the playoffs!!

It’s called, “PLAYOFF HOCKEY.” You don’t win by taking just 1 game… you win by winning four out of seven, and you make the other team fear you and pay the price. It’s how teams win.
