Will Sutter Stay In New Jersey?

from Mark Everson of the NY Post,

The response was a surprising, “No response.”

That’s what Brent Sutter said to the rumble that this could be his last season as Devils New Jersey Devils coach.

Sutter is believed to have next season remaining on a lucrative contract, but the question is out there among NHL team officials.

Sutter seemed bemusedly astonished when asked, but his philosophy remains to take his situation a year at a time.

He is believed to feel keenly the absence of his family, back in Alberta, British Columbia, where much of the rest of his sizable clan accounts for a significant portion of the provincial population.

Alberta, British Columbia? Really?

And everyone knows that Sutter misses his family who are all back home. It comes up every Western Canadian road trip and every time they visit the Rock.

Everson really scrapes the bottom of the barrel with his “journalism.”

Dang it.  And here I just thought all the names of countries in Eastern Europe and Africa had changed from my old atlas - now provinces are annexing each other?  Stupid geography ... grumble ... grumble.

Damned right.  We’ve got BC, and now we’re coming for Saskatchewan.  The Province of Buffalo lives again!

Every hockey writer in the world should know where the Sutters are from, and you’d think a guy from New York in particular would know, given that Brent himself played for the Islanders when they were good and captained them before they became a complete joke and a couple of his brothers were in Philly for a while, but I guess he’s an exception.
