Wings Fans- Don’t Get Giddy

The Wings are finally playing playoff type hockey, but remember, it isn’t a series until a road team wins.
This series is not over by any means, we will see a different Calgary team at home on Tuesday.

added 4:48pm, Just a little note, but with Lidstrom’s two goals in this series, he ties Larry Murphy for 5th all time for goals scored by a defenseman in the playoffs.

1. P. Coffey: 59
2. D. Potvin: 56
3. R. Bourque: 41
4. A. MacInnis: 39
5t N. Lidstrom 37
5t L. Murphy: 37

Calgary will be ready on tuesday and thursday for sure. As long as the Red Wings take a split in the saddledome I’ll be happy.

How about Datsyuk with 2 goals in 2 games and “Flipper” with a pair as well?

I second that.  The evil twin crappy Flames were playing the last couple games--I fully expect the hard-driving skating much better Flames in Calgary.

Well I hope Calgary shows up, that first period was almost a exact copy of game one.  The game was a lot more entertaining from the second on.  Great win for the Wings, I don’t expect Calgary to be as awful at home, but Detroit has so many potent weapons.  Calgary better get there game together or this one will never make it back to Detroit.

Great Game by the Wings.  I have to admit I was a little nervous after the Wings, already up two-zero, failed to score again on the PP. Didn’t want the Wings to give the Flame any hope at all.  Nice having McGuire between the benches, great perspective and insight.  Got really nervous when 2-1.  Flipper is awesome in limited time.  Cleary-Maltby-Draper terrific on the puck.  Cleary continues to impress.  Actually saw Lang back-check to break up a scoring chance—had to rub my eyes and pinch myselfto be certain I wasn’t dreaming.  Great D very limited shots and fewer chances.  Think the Wings had more chances than Flame had shots.  All while giving up very few scoring opportunity.  6 periods and the Flame have only be in the game maybe 3 of them altogether.  Flamers have really got to be wondering W.T.F. is going on?  Interesting to see what happens Tues, and will Bert play, and who will sit.  All in all could not ask for a whole lot more.  GO WINGS!!!!

It’s just two wins out of 4 in a seven game series.  The Wings need to go and win the next game so that they aren’t forced to face another win-or-it’s-split situation on Thursday.  The Wings need to do what two more goals in the first would have done--crush the Flames’ spirit.

When you’ve got your boot on a snake’s neck, you don’t lift your foot.  You mash it.  The Flames are dangerous as hell, and they’re going to come out twice as phsyically at home.  The Wings need to make Kiprusoff’s life a lot tougher, and they need to be much more consistent in terms of their skating and defensive support to just suffocate the Flames’ ofence.

Full marks for a solid win where the Wings needed to remember that even in the playoffs, all a dominating period can become is hanging by a thread if you don’t back it up.  They got a good gut check without having to lose to get humble again.  Dom was tremendous in very limited action and Hank was able to have his “off” game because Pavel and Homer are playing out of their minds good.  Even Lilja was good.
