from Dave Waddell of the Windsor Star via the National Post,
Lidstrom said he’s never really had a conversation with Cherry during his visits to Detroit.
“I think I’ve said hi to him when I’ve seen him here,” Lidstrom said.
“Maybe (I’ll) check him (the next time I see him). He’s a character. He brings a lot of entertainment when he speaks.
“Sometimes he’s right and sometimes he’s wrong. I think just seeing him in his suits brings laughter from people.”
more and if you missed the Cherry comments, you can watch it here...

Cherry is an idiot. go listen to his radio show from tonight that gets played across Canada and the moronic nonsense he’s spewing about players. he’s talking about Ovechkin needing to be lit up and what not but he had nothing to say about Crosby hitting a defenseman in the crotch, with his fists, during a fight against Atlanta.
this is all just overblown media bullcrap. every player who hits or plays with an edge that can still score has a ton of questionable plays. Doan, Dustin Brown, Brenden Morrow, Ovechkin - you name it. so why is Ovechkin singled out now after how many years hes been in the league?
the dude is so full of himself that he forgot to “check” his own ego at the door 30 years ago. of course he only speaks the “truth” though. Don never got around to learning any philosophy but his own and a bunch of childish nationalist ideologies that keeps him thinking like a juvenile instead of a mature person. he is a “Real man” though.

Well done by Nick. Gets a couple of coy digs in at Cherry, but overall keeps it classy. Priceless.

both Don and Ron seemed to insinuate that the hits were “all in the number” and this made them cheap?
They actually were (mostly) in the numbers, i.e. from behind, which is a dangerous way to hit people.

I didn’t really have a problem with what Don said. I was a little perplexed with the montage of Datsyuk and his giving some hits , both Don and Ron seemed to insinuate that the hits were “all in the number” and this made them cheap?
I would love to go back to the old days with Probert & Kocur beating the snot out of everyone, but the league has legislated that kind of team out of existance ( except for the Ducks and well, they will be golfing soon enough).
Finally, when will people outside of Detroit give up the comments about empty seats. If I could walk up to the box office and buy one of those seats that are empty in the lower bowl, I would. However, those seats have been owned by season ticket holders, and ticket speculators who for years have had the market work for them, but now it’s a buyers market and those seats will remain empty.
