from Curtis Zupke of Ducks Blog at the OC Register,
Babcock, like San Jose coach Todd McLellan, is staying the course in attempting to break through offensively.
“We’re getting to the net, but we’re not getting second chances,” Babcock said.
“When you’re shooting the puck and you’ve got people at the net, I’m a big believer, over time, that you’re going to get a tip that goes in, or you’re going to get a rebound that comes to you eventually. Right now, that’s not happening, but that’s just part of the process. Stay with it, things will go your way.”
Of course, San Jose stayed with it, and things went all the way to an early vacation.

“Okay Curt, you’re name is Curt, right? I’m counting on you to not breath a word of this. Here’s what we’re gonna do…we’re gonna put the Flying Circus back together and put Hoss with Walt and the Mule…or maybe Happy. That little guy is really a tiger, huh? Then, we’ll alternate double shifts between Dingle Dangle and Z with Clears and Sammy and Huds or Mule on the third line. Maybe bring in Abbadabbadoodliefrickindoo to bang bodies on the fourth and give Malts a gold watch, er, a break to “re-energize” for Game 5. On D, we’re gonna bring back Rafi and Lils—this is off-the-record, right?—and sit down Cheli and Lebs. The pairs will be the Lids and Big E, Rafi and Stewy, and Kronner and Lils. Then we got some offense and some size in each pair. So, what do you think, Curt?”
If he told him like that I don’t think it would do all that much harm - that’s a bit incomprehensible. ![]()
Besides, at least Detroit has a little bit of credibility in thinking that what they have been doing all along just might work, because it has before. No supposition as with San Jose.

Okay, so if Babcock were going to change anything up, do you think he would actually tell the MSM—and the Ducks—ahead of time?
