I know Wings fans will hate this, but the guy did score 21 Goals in 05-06 with the Wings. He *can* score and has a pretty good shot—better than Samuelsson’s, that’s for freaking sure.
Also remember that he was a Shootout specialist when it first came about, probably DET’s most-dangerous shootout guy. And they lost a fairly good shootout guy with Hudler leaving (yes he had one good move—but it’s been a REALLY good one, up and over the goalie’s left shoulder after a deke).
Are there work ethic issues and other questions? Probably. There certainly were for Dan Cleary too. And Mikael Samuelsson.
The biggest is: Has JWill learned his lesson? He can score more with the Wings in supporting roles than he could elsewhere in key roles.
If he’s learned that, everyoen crying now will forget all about the past with him. Just like they did Sammy (for a time) and Cleary.
Besides… who the heck else should the Wings have signed instead?

I’m sorry the Jackets couldn’t keep him for another year. He added some scoring to the power play (I know, it wouldn’t take much) and seemed like a good team guy. It was just a numbers game here.

I was hoping for some grit. this is just not a good thing at all. they just signed eaves which meant to me they weren’t signing him. unless they needed someone to trade for a new bag of pucks.
