the wings, hoping to surpass the oilers for title of most man games lost to injury this season, acquire ole-kristan tollefsen who has already missed 16 games due to concussion and 14 games with a sprained mcl this season.

Tollefsen.put on waivers by Wings, will go to Grand Rapids if he clears.
The move clears enough cap room to allow Franzen to return.

I knew Leino’s time was short… but I guess it shouldn’t come as a big surprise.

Good trade if you ask me Leino adds nothing that the team does not already have in spades. OKT is a nasty customer in his own end. Something most should know from his Blue Jacket days plus you get another pick that the great scouting staff gets to play with. The only question is if OKT can stay healthy. If he can he will be solid in his own end and add some grit and muscle to this team.

Holmgren on Leino, “Ville is a skilled forward that is going to give us some depth,” said Holmgren. “I think he has the ability to play up and down our lineup and play with our skilled players. We’re excited to have him.”

Wow my last post means squat. So Leino for a 5th. This team could use the muscle, shame OKT won’t be around to add it. When healthy he is Adam Foote like in his own zone, granted not as good but in the same mold.

2 things.
1. he’s never healthy
2. he’s terrible at defense

I’m just glad we got something for him instead of having to waive him and get nothing in return when another team claims him. Everyone pretty much saw this coming.

Yeah. This has “cap move” written all over it. Thanks, Gary. Ass.

Too bad it didn’t work out for Leino. I wish him luck in Philadelphia (or back in Finland, if that is his choice to return to his home country).

By the way, what are the odds on Leino publicly bashing Uncle Mike in the next couple of weeks? I’d say pretty high.

Maybe not. No reason for it, and if he’s honest with himself at all, his play when he was in the lineup didn’t justify more time, and he knows that.
Probably bland statements about how it was hard to have an impact when he was a scratch and he’s happy to have an opportunity with a new team, but not much more than that.
It’s a fresh slate for him, and I hope he’s able to take advantage of it.

Perhaps, Miss B. But I just think back to his statements about not being willing to go back to GR last summer (which in fairness could have been taken out of context, and English is not his first language) and wouldn’t be surprised if he takes a couple subtle jabs. Either way, out of sight, out of mind for me. He could become a useful player, but I don’t really care. He’s making his money regardless.

Won’t miss him.
Andy must be throwing a party right now, we need Regehr to complete the trend.

Which is when I made up my mind. Fair or not, I have always felt there was a piece missing with what he put out there, or didn’t put out there.
Desire? I could never put my finger on it. He just didn’t fit the Wings mold.
It rubbed me the same way when Hossa made it clear he would play with the “best” on the Team. Statements like that are selfish in nature.
Lets Go Red Wings!!!!!

I wasn’t sarcastic - I was surprised. This is the first time I really wanted a player to drop from the roster and it happened. this only goes to make Lebda’s presence all the more mystifying.

So we traded Leino and got an olympian back?
OK, so he’s from Norway, I know it barely counts, but still…
