from Michael Buteau at Bloomberg,
The Las Vegas Strip, Yankee Stadium and California’s Rose Bowl are on the list of potential sites for the National Hockey League’s annual outdoor game, NHL Chief Operating Officer John Collins said.
The league is evaluating potential locations of future outdoor games two weeks after this season’s edition, between the Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks at Wrigley Field on Jan. 1, drew the highest television ratings for the NHL in 34 years.
“This is really kind of becoming a destination event for hockey fans, but also sports fans,” Collins said in a telephone interview. We want to “open it up to the masses.”

It’s Fenway park, already been decided by the NHL.

“Um, the normal weather for Pasadena is January is somewhere around 55°F. I guess we won’t be seeing any of the players wearing balaclavas.”
Plus if I remember correctly the Rose Bowl host some type of event on January 1.

Oh for f*ck’s sakes....!!!
Hey NHL Front Office! Keep Las Vegas out of your V! We know your V is just wet and squirtin’ at the idea of uber-rich movie mogul Jerry Bruckheimer trying to land an NHL team in Las Vegas but talk to me, you idiots, and I’ll tell you about the interest of the game of hockey in general in this team: 95% of them are fair-weather fans. They’re only there for the exposure to possible celebrity sightings and NOT the game much less the players who are playing their asses off trying to win the game.
I love Las Vegas to pieces as much as the next guy but at least, I’m not blinded by the corporate dollars flashing their cherry-red V just because they can.
