Ken Holland spotted driving into every gas station he sees on the way home. Waiting for phone to ring but it hasn’t yet.
Wings fans may remember the phone story from last year’s UFA period.

LMAO! Perhaps a Lecavalier to soften the loss of Hossa.
But yeah, I mentioned earlier that I’m perfectly cool with Holland if he does nothing till training camp.

Gary Bettman called. He was giggling.

Does this have anything to do with Detroit losing games 6 and 7 of the Cup finals??

I’m wondering, with Chicago’s moves so far, if Detroit now throws a 4-year, $12 million deal at Versteeg? Yes, Chicago has room to match it, but it might make it impossible then for Chicago to re-sign Barker.

Are you thinking if they lose Hudler to an offer sheet? That would be their choice of how to use the cap space?

Hi-Larious.
And sad.
Oh well, I called it that we wouldn’t be doing anything during the offseason. We have enough in the system to make another cup run happen. Hossa be damned.

It’d be an excellent way to flip the picks they’d get from a Hudler offer sheet, no doubt.
However, Versteeg sitting there also provides a layer of protection against Huds getting an offer sheet. I would thik if a GM is going to give a 2.5 mil offer to one of the two, it would go to Versteeg first.
Heck, I think a GM could throw a 3.8 mil offer to Barker and give up a 1st and a 3rd to get a guy picked 3rd overall and Tallon would be unable to match.

I’m glad they got rid of Hossa. He was unimpressive to me in the playoffs. If you really know the game and have played in the playoffs, you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about. He lacked hunger, toughness and desire. He made some nice moves when he had to and scored a couple of goals here and there, but that was it. He was a guttless punk. He let his teamates dig the puck out of the corners when he could have himself. To me it seemed that he had his teamates doing all the work!!!!!!! HE PLAYED LIKE A FREAK’N WUSSY!!!!!!!! P.s. I LOVE MY RED WINGS AND ALWAYS WILL!!!!!

I’m gonna have to defend Hossa here, “unknown”.
The man was a 40-goal scorer for us in the regular season. That’s a tough hole to fill. Sure he was fairly invisible in the playoffs. And his failure to win a cup in his gambit rests squarely on his own shoulders. The yoke is around his own neck, he doesn’t need the added beat-down.
But I do agree, we don’t need him. Our boys will produce. You just watch.

We have enough in the system to make another cup run happen.
Do we? Where? We’re likely to be bringing up three Griffins (possibly four) and we still don’t have enough forwards to fill a roster right now…
I like, scratch that, LOVE the Griffins we’re bringing up, but the nice thing about our organization in the past was that we didn’t bring up players who weren’t ready yet, and if we bring up Abdelkader (and MORE, by your logic) who maybe needs another year of seasoning, then we’re screwing ourselves over in the long run.
I’m not saying we needed Hossa, as I’ve been pretty vocal in my argument against signing him, but to say we don’t need to make any moves at all is a little naive.
