via Blackhawks.com,
The Blackhawks released the following statement regarding forward Patrick Kane:
Blackhawks head team physician Dr. Michael Terry:
“Patrick Kane sustained a left wrist injury which came to light recently during his off-season training. He will undergo surgery on Tuesday to repair a scaphoid fracture. We anticipate a full recovery in 6-8 weeks and in time for training camp. We do not anticipate any long-term issues.”

This is “not all you need to know” by the team doctor…
Scaphoid fractures are notorious for not healing, and for part of the bone dying. Then people have long term pain and disability.
Furthermore, it sounds as if Kane’s injury happened sometime in the past, because normally they would immediately put him in a thumb spica “cast”.
So this fracture is not new, and has not healed properly, and now they must operate. I hope for Kane’s sake it goes well.
