Your All-Star Game Starters

from Adam Kimmelman of NHL.com,

The 2009 All-Star Game will be a celebration of the great history of the Montreal Canadiens during their centennial season.

While fans think fondly of the club’s great history, there also will be a lot to cheer for in the present, as the Eastern Conference starting lineup for the 2009 All-Star Game will be tinged in bleu, blanc et rouge.

Four Canadiens were voted to start the game—forward Alexei Kovalev, defensemen Andrei Markov and Mike Komisarek, and goaltender Carey Price.

Joining the Montreal faction will be a pair of players from the Pittsburgh Penguins, the defending Eastern Conference champs.

Nothing like losing credibility for an all star. The NHL is really really doing all they can to insure that their all star becomes the most irrelavant national sports event. The Starting lineups are a complete joke. Are you kidding me with 4 Montreal Canadiens in the starting lineup, including Mike Komisarek and Carey Price Wow!

So explain to the casual fan and to the hard core fan like myself how Komisarek is better then Zdeno Chara, or Mike Green. How did Alexiei Kovalev make it to the

starting lineup, has he even scored 10 goals this season. And Carey Price as starter over Tim Thomas LOL! Now I know the game is in Montreal but please.

And When I look at the West Squad its just as bad. Giguere the Starter? Over Nabokov. And Brian Campbell over Dan Boyle LOL! I would take Boyle over Campbell any day of the week and in any aspect of the game. NO Zetterberg in the starting lineup, no Hossa too more jokes.

The entire NHL All Star experience seems to be somewhat fixed towards players from Montreal (the host of the game). Shouldn’t a real all star feature players who deserve or should be considered the best at their positions, and not just based upon where they are from. After all why not just make it a Montreal all star game and invite only players who play have played or were born in Montreal to play in the game, and then have another All Star game with the ACTUAL stars starting in the game.

Calm down and do what I plan on doing - congratulate the most prolific voting robots and take advantage of the break to take a mental break from hockey yourself.  smile

LOL Good one Baroque

Oh yeah I forgot I want to ask Canadien fans are you proud of the fact that Alexei Kovalev will be starting over the best player in HOCKEY Alexander Ovechkin. How can any league or any sport expect to get respectablilty when their best player isn’t even voted in as a starter for an all star game? Heck Ovechkin is better then any player at any position in the entire all star game.

Can someone post the actual final vote totals for both leagues

What a fraud.

I hope none of the Wings go, so they can stay home and rest.
